I’m Back…

Yeah, I know, you probably didn’t notice I was gone. I aim to change that.

My blogging efforts have been spasmodic bursts over the years, but it is time to level up and make it a habit. That probably means shorter, but hopefully, far more regular entries.

So why bother at all?

There are a host of reasons, all of which have been building the creative pressure in my psyche.

The most important is that with increasing frequency my clients, colleagues, and friends have been asking me what I think about various current events in high tech. Having 35 years of experience in the field does give me a bit of perspective, and we do surely live in eventful times. At the risk of sounding a bit self-important, I think I have some things to add to the conversation.

Another reason I’m firing up the ol’ writing engine again is that I’m just now coming out of a long period of heads-down and intensive labor. I’ve spent the last year helping two companies develop their MVPs (minimum viable products) as well as assisting with the implementation of an efficient and scalable build-out of their development organizations. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed myself and consider it time well-spent. I think of it as “venture consulting” as well as “venture coding”.

Having invested myself in this way, I’ve learned a few things that I hope to share. The realities of our new software economy require some major shifts in thinking. Speaking of reality: If you don’t yet fully believe that we are in a new economic world—especially in software—then you had best bookmark this blog right now. You will believe soon enough.
